0931 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex Somehow she had lost control of the situation, she knew she had. This was new territory, Lilia had gotten so used to the team dynamics of her SG team and she was falling into usual ways of dealing with people. She realized that she couldn’t, especially with those that were part of different military branches, different countries military branches.
She listened to each of their stories about their previous assignments, Stargate related or otherwise. Both had left to pursue other ventures and have now come back. It takes a lot to want to leave the Stargate program, thankfully there are still many wondrous things to discover to come back to.
Perhaps it was best to get back to the task at hand. ”Back to work then,” Lilia grabbed her datapad, the reason she was sitting on the medical container was she figured someone from the medical personnel would eventually come looking for it. Rather than going around trying to determine whether someone was medical, she stopped and waited. Hey, people have their own strategy for doing things.
She handed the datapad to O’Malley. ”We got word that a chief science person backed out at the last minute, someone I’m sure you are both familiar with, a Dr. Cara Coyle. Apparently she would rather stay behind and get married then come on the expedition. She did however recommend a replacement. This replacement has got a few medical needs, a case of asthma or something. There’s a shipment of medical supplies, extra from what was ordered for the expedition. It should arrive within the hour. Not that I wanted to add to your list of things to do, but you are the first medical personnel that I’ve come across.”
Lilia waited until the good Doctor/Lt.Col. was finished with her datapad.

0928 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex Less than three hours, was that all the time that was left from them on Earth, until their departure. Lilia must have taken a longer break than she thought. Only just yesterday she was in San Francisco, visiting her parents before she left. It would be a while before she could taste her father’s cooking again. ‘II Demyan’ was an authentic Russian cuisine restaurant that her parents owned and that her father still cooked in. Where the double ‘I’ is often mistaken for the Roman Numeral ‘2’ it was really the initials of her parents Ivan and Ivanka. She had spent all day with them and even helped out with the evening service before heading back to Colorado. She was happy to hear that her mother was opening her own dance school; it had been a long time since her dancing years in the Russian ballet.
“Being a doctor tends to lead with proficiency in needles, yes, but I’m not sure why that matters at this moment in time. Planning on becoming a heroin addict?” The Brit’s voice brought her back to reality.
”There is such a thing as being too candid Lt. Colonel.” Lilia brought her voice down from the fun going way she was moments before. ”I only meant, I’ve learned from working around here not to mess with the CMO. At least working with Janet Frasier has taught me that much.” Lilia was a SGC veteran; she had been working there for the last 9 years and the first couple years were memorable the times she got hurt and had been in the infirmary. ”I hope at least you are familiar with your medical team’s roaster. I would hate to think that there incompetency among the ranks, military of otherwise.”
Something told her O’Malley might be a challenge, which wasn’t a bad thing, Lilia thrived at challenges. This is why she didn’t falter when they told her that she would have this command. Yeah, she was just a Colonel, but there were no spare Generals hanging around. There were some people from the IOA present on the expedition, but none had the caliber of say, Dr. Weir the first leader of Atlantis. Lilia’s ass was on the line and it was not something to take lightly.
She looked over to Blackwell, ”You both were on the Ohm Expedition I take it? Why’d you leave?”

0927 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex
”Nope, not superstitions per say. Although my palm has been itchy, so I think money is in my future.” she responded to her XO. Everyone could suck it, there was a female leader and a female XO for this expedition. There had been plenty of whining from others who couldn’t exactly say they were not fond of the idea of ‘women’ leading this expedition. Lilia had learned the signs all too well to know what they meant. It had been hell trying to fight for this.
"Intelligence and Communication, ma'am," Blackwell spoke of her specialty. It was important to have a well-rounded team. She didn’t want too many redundant people, but on the other hand, not having enough was bad as well. It was more to do with the civilians that the military personnel that she worried. She heard about the squabbles between McKay and Zelenka on Atlantis. It was going to be hard work to keep everyone happy.
Lilia finally hopped off the container, stomping her foot on the ground a few times, trying to get the feeling back on her foot and get the tingling to stop when she did so. All the while Mr. Grumpy Gills was trying to reiterate how the containers could break. She did raise an eyebrow at his candidness. Finally their banter got to a point where he said “You are a very unique snowflake,”
She put her right hand on his right shoulder, sorta helping her hobble past the two, her foot still recovering, and then patted the shoulder slightly as to reassure the man, ”Just keep swimming,” she didn’t care if they didn’t get the reference. After all, she only called him Mr. Grumpy Gills in her head.
The two Lt. Col. caught up with each other for a bit as Lilia grabbed some of her gear, she repacked her Sudoku book and pen. She caught the part of their conversation where Blackwell made introductions, mainly her telling O’Malley who Lilia was. She could see the gears turning in the Doctor head, Lilia just smirked. ”Oh. Now that I just made a total and complete ass of myself, I think I’ll just go stand over here now,”
”Relax Colonel, Lilia told him her hands turned palm up, a gesture usually to show that one was unarmed, and in this case not going to do anything. ”I appreciate your candidness. Besides, I was less than professional myself. We all are entitled to a little fun from time to time. Besides, I believe you have the upper hand as master of the syringes.”

0925 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex ”Oi! Off the box!” someone said suddenly, deterring her attention away from Major Blackwell. Raising an eyebrow, Lilia clicked her tongue at the person resembling eye candy of the male persuasion. She tapped her pen against the hard plastic box. ”Keep your pants on, I’m not going to squish the supplies that are in a box that is designed to withstand going through a wormhole.” she looked him over again, ”On second thought forget the pants, you don’t need them.”
Lilia looked down at her puzzle again and put down yet another number. ”Besides, I can’t get off, my foot is asleep.”
“G’day, Major,” Lilia look up again with a pouty face, ”Aw, no greeting for me. Keep that up, and people will stating thinking you’re selectively mean.” Wow....she had defiantly been watching too much House MD. Lilia wondered who this piece of man candy was with the surgery coated accent was exactly. He seemed to think he had an air of authority to command her off the box. There was no one on the expedition ranking higher than her, maybe equal or civilian, but not higher.
Lilia conceded however, moving her right leg off the left and moving the left with her hands since she couldn’t move it on her own. It ended with both her feet dangling off the box. She wasn’t ready to get off of it just yet.

0924 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex "Lt. Colonel Demyan, I presume?" Crap, was who she was that obvious. Seriously, it would be nice from time to time to have someone not know she was right off the bat, from some report or something. "Damn, and here I thought I could turn invisible if I just sat here quietly. At ease, I know I am." Her tone was sarcastic, so there was no way that the other woman, whom Lilia did not recognized at all, could misinterpret.
"Major Samarra Blackwell. It's a pleasure, really." the Major relaxed her stance a bit but extended her hand. Awkward. "I look forward to working with you...for however long this one may be."
Lilia gave the Major a warm smile as to show that she wasn't being mean on purpose as she did not reciprocate the hand shake. "Take no offence Major, I just don't shake hands with anyone unless I really had to, like with the superiors. I just don't get the concept really. Plus, I'd hate to get up, my foot's asleep."
"So what is your speciality Blackwell, or are you just here for aiming accuracy and muscle?" she asked the woman with a laugh, she found another location of a number in her puzzle book.

0923 Cheyenne Mountain Stargate Complex
Her left palm was itchy, money was going to come her way, at least that was how the superstition worked. Lilia was sitting on top of a box, one that, by the look of the cross on the side, was full of medical supplies. There was still about three hours before they were to depart to the Marius Galaxy.
Sure there was a ship on its way to that particular galaxy, but there was also a first team to go though. Basically all the main people were scheduled to go though the gate. She had yet to meet anyone actually important on the expedition and she was kinda itching to.
She had talked to her mother and father the day before to let them know that she wouldn't be able to contact them for a while. They certainly had a lot of questions, for which she told them. She was soo glad that she didn't have to lie to them anymore about her job. They were obviously concerned, but she did remind them that she had been going off planet for the last nine years.
So here she was, waiting, with only a book of sudoku to occupy her time until someone came along for the box of supplies she was sitting on.
